Yes, it exists!

I'm an avid Reddit user and a member of loads of coloring subs. And while each one has its own theme, some traditional coloring, some digital, some coloring exclusively cute, easy, bold art, there's one thing they all have in common. There are always posts asking where people can find art made by an actual person rather than AI. And that's exactly where our app, Lake Coloring, steps in.

In recent years there's been a massive uprise of AI everything, including AI art, which you've probably noticed if you've spent at least a minute on this planet in the past few years. Everyone has their own opinions on it, but one thing I'll always stand by: we need to preserve culture, art, and human made things. That's at the core of Lake's mission too: supporting real artists from all over the world and keeping at least a fraction of human made art in one place.

Drawing made by Pomelyne, colored in Lake Coloring app

Think of the Lake Coloring app as the ultimate space for human creativity. Coloring books with 12 drawings inside, all made by real artists. A blank canvas feature where you can draw your own art (or make your own line art and color it). A coloring journal where you can color with your own custom mood palette and jot down your thoughts. And an import feature so you can bring in your own art and color it too. This is exactly why I LOOOOOOVE Lake (and yes, I'm absolutely biased): it celebrates and encourages human made creativity.

On top of all that, Lake also shares subscription profit with all of the artists, which I think is super cool (especially these days, khm khm). I'm lucky enough to work directly with the artists who publish their books inside Lake, and I can tell you, I have one of the coolest jobs in the world. Every artist is genuinely grateful and happy to publish with us, because we try to give them as much exposure as possible: promoting their art, building out their artist profiles, featuring them on various pages of the app... Our users absolutely love to even interact with them on social media and buy their physical art. Watching that bond form between humans through art is something really special.

Artists featured in Lake Coloring

Like I said before, no AI art is at the core of our coloring app, and we believe everyone can find something to color for themselves. But if you don't, you can always write to us, or upload your own art (if you're not a creative soul like me, just make sure you're not stealing from anyone, okay?).

So, to wrap up this little rant slash appreciation post: if you're looking for a coloring app with no AI and you have an iPhone or iPad, try Lake Coloring and support human made art!
