I’ve tried my fair share of coloring apps, but Lake is on a whole other level. Honestly, I might be slightly biased… okay, very biased. But hear me out.

Every drawing comes from actual human artists, not AI or generic stock images. Each drawing has its own personality, which makes coloring feel way more personal. I’ll be honest, I sometimes start coloring to relax and suddenly realize an hour has gone by, and I feel calmer, happier, and slightly proud of my "masterpiece" (and I can't wait to show it to my partner haha).

This is a weirdly addictive part! The ASMR sounds of the coloring tools make the experience immersive and soothing. My favorite sound is from the marker because I feel like I literally color on a piece of paper with the real marker!

You’ve got your regular rainbow wheel with all the colors, and if you want more, there’s also a color picker. But the real stars are the premade palettes, made by the artists or the Lake designers. Some are themed for special occasions, and some are just super useful, like my all-time favorite skin-color palette that I use on basically everything.
Supporting Independent Artists
This is a big one for me. I love knowing that while I’m zoning out in my happy little coloring bubble, I’m also helping real artists thrive. It feels amazing to spend time on something creative that actually matters. In case you didn’t know, Lake shares a portion of subscription profits with the artists who publish coloring books in the app. Their whole mission is to support the incredible talent that makes the coloring community so full of high-quality art.
Easy to Use, Hard to Put Down
Even though I’m a total (and I mean total!) amateur, the app is super intuitive and I feel like a real pro when I color and especially when I try some new "techniques" from the in-app tutorials. And as I mentioned for bagillion of times, it's super relaxing, because there are no ads at all and no distractions. It's just me, my iPad and Apple Pencil and it's just a pure coloring therapy for me.

So yeah, this is totally my subjective opinion, but Lake is more than just an app. It is a relaxing way to unwind before bedtime and an amazing company that supports real artists at the same time.
