(That I Keep Coming Back to Every Year)
There's something about spring that just makes me want to grab my Apple Pencil, open Lake, and color for hours. Maybe it's the longer days, the fresh air finally coming through the window, or just that general feeling that everything is blooming (including my motivation). If you're also a digital coloring girlie looking for your next obsession, here are the coloring books I always come back to when the season changes.
TL;DR: Here are my six favorite coloring books to color in Lake this spring: Affirmations by Joanna Muñoz, Dreaming of Japan by Sandra Pires Martins, Ordinary Joys by Julia Kestner, Magical Cityscapes by Camila Nogueira, Blooming Girls by Freya Kotchakorn, and Little Bird by Victoria Johnson. All available on Lake for iPhone and iPad.
P.S. Curious why I color digitally instead of with physical markers and pencils? I wrote a whole post about it, go check it out!
Affirmations by Joanna Muñoz
Okay, first things first, if you need a little confidence boost going into the new season, this is the one. Affirmations is a lettering-style coloring book full of encouraging phrases that honestly feel perfectly timed for spring, when everything is blooming and you suddenly have the energy to actually do things again. My absolute favorite page? The one that says "I embrace joy and peace." This is going to be my "mantra" for this spring. Something about coloring those words in while sitting in the sun just hits differently. It's the kind of book that makes you feel good while you're coloring (and after!).

Dreaming of Japan by Sandra Pires Martins
I have never been to Japan. But I think about it constantly, especially in spring, during sakura season, when the cherry trees are blooming and every photo from there looks like a dream. Dreaming of Japan is basically my way of living that fantasy while I'm still saving up for the trip. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and I keep imagining myself walking under those cherry blossom trees with petals falling all around me. One day. Until then, I have Lake and this coloring book, and honestly? It's a pretty good substitute.

Ordinary Joys by Julia Kestner
This one is basically my spring to-do list turned into a coloring book, and I mean that in the best way possible. Ordinary Joys captures all of the little things that make spring the best season: coffee dates with friends, picnics in the park, buying flowers at the Saturday market, having the windows open while you sip on your favorite drink and do absolutely nothing. It's cozy, it's cute, and it makes me feel like spring is already here even when it's still a little chilly outside.

Magical Cityscapes by Camila Nogueira
Spring is hands down the best time to travel. Not too hot, weather is usually gorgeous, and the tourist crowds haven't taken over yet. Magical Cityscapes feels like a love letter to all the cities I want to visit during this exact window of the year. Paris in bloom, Porto with its pastel tiles, Prague with all its fairytale architecture... coloring these pages is basically trip planning, except more relaxing and way cheaper. This book has fully convinced me that my next spring getaway needs to happen ASAP.

Blooming Girls by Freya Kotchakorn
If you know, you know. This book is the aesthetic. Blooming Girls is everything the iPad girlie in me wants from spring: being surrounded by beautiful flowers, feeling like you're in full bloom, living your best soft life. The illustrations are stunning and the whole vibe is exactly how I want to feel from March through May. It's one of those books where every single page feels like it was made for your screen.

Little Bird by Victoria Johnson
The (un)official sound of spring: Birds chirping in the early morning when you wake up and the window is cracked open. Little Bird by Victoria Johnson has the most adorable bird illustrations, and okay, I cannot tell you exactly which species is which, but that's kind of the beauty of it. With coloring, I get to make them whatever colors feel right to me. They're the birds of my imagination, and I love them for it. It's a sweet, simple book that just feels like spring in the best possible way.
